Gassed Up
Talking about gas prices, last time I gassed up, Caltex Silver was around Php59/liter (US$1.32 at Php44.50/USdollar). Now it's around Php60/liter (still US$1.32 at Php45.35/USdollar). Luckily, my ride is a Japanese surplus Suzuki Carry: a 2WD dropside/pickup type with 3/4 canopy, 660cc 3-cylinder 12-valve engine, with 13-inch tires.
I average about 25- to 30-kilometers of daily travel from the house, going to the office, fetching my kid, sometimes doing groceries, going around downtown Bacolod.
...
Since gas prices are ever increasing, I started experimenting with what gasoline brand that can carry me a kilometer farther. I waited until my Zuki was really out of gas and can no longer start the engine, then initially filled her up with 5 liters of Shell Unleaded, which I carry on a 5 liter gasoline container. I've taken notes of the starting mileage until the engine ran out of gas. Then wrote down the mileage and again filled the gas tank with another 5 liters of another brand of gasoline.
Now here are my findings:
5 liters of Shell Unleaded carried me 65.1 kilometers which averages 13.02 km/li.
5 liters of Shell Premium, 68 kms, or 13.6 km/li average.
5 liters of Caltex Silver, 66.4 kms, or 13.28 km/li.
5 liters of Caltex Gold, 68.5 kms, or 13.76 km/li average.
5 liters of Petron XCS, 68.1 kms, or 13.62 km/li average.
It is better to gas up with at least 5 liters or more. And fill up your fuel tank before 7AM or after 5PM, where fuel evaporates lesser. Have a fuel container of at least 5 liters stowed safely. You'll be relieved when you forget to gas up earlier and you ran out of gas.
Meanwhile:
The gas price increase in my opinion is maybe due to the fact that fossil fuel (such as crude/petroleum oil) is getting scarce. And oil companies, and even governments are aware of it. Oil companies are gnatting the bones, governments are just waiting for the handouts from these oil companies.
Until the world is sucked dry of its black gold, then the governments would really seriously pass laws allowing hydroxy gas and other renewable energy sources to be commercially produced and distributed, by none other but by the same companies that sucked the world of its fossil fuel.
